We, Citizen: Political social media company looks to seize its trademark

iCitizen files suit to secure name

Is it iCitizen or is it more like IICitizen?

Nashville-based political social media operation iCitizen has filed suit against CitySourced Inc. seeking the iCitizen trademark.

According to the complaint filed last week in U.S. District Court in Nashville, Los Angeles-based CitySourced applied for the trademark in August 2012 and it was registered by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office in September after CitySourced submitted a statement that it began using the mark in May.

Later, iCitizen submitted its own claim, which was held by the trademark attorney because of CitySourced's earlier claim.

Now, iCitizen wants the mark because, it says, CitySourced has not used the trademark as required by law. The company seeks vacation of the trademark by CitySourced and its reassignment.

Locally, iCitizen is represented by Stephen J. Zralek, Charles Robert Bone and Paul W. Kruse of Bone McAllester Norton.
