Gander Mountain to open first store in Middle Tennessee

Outdoors retailer to take space near Mt. Juliet's Providence Marketplace

Gander Mountain — an outdoor retailer known for its selection of firearms and hunting, fishing and camping equipment — announced today it will open a store in Mt. Juliet in the spring of 2014.

The store, the Saint Paul, Minn.-based retailer’s first in Middle Tennessee, will be located in a new 52,000-square-foot space adjacent to Providence Marketplace (pictured), near the intersection of Interstate 40 and Highway 171/Mt. Juliet Road. Statewide, the company operates stores in suburban Knoxville and in Jackson.

“For many years, Gander Mountain has been a well-known and trusted name in Tennessee among those who ... enjoy great traditions like hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and camping,” David Pratt, Gander Mountain president and CEO, said in a release. “We are thrilled to bring a new Gander Mountain store to Middle Tennessee, and give more of our friends in Mt. Juliet and the greater Nashville metro area opportunities to experience our top-quality gear and knowledgeable service at great prices.”

Mt. Juliet Mayor Ed Hagerty (pictured) said Gander Mountain has a “highly-regarded reputation” and will be a strong fit for the community’s "diverse retail mix."

The Mt. Juliet store will offer men’s and women’s apparel brands such as The North Face, Columbia, Under Armour, GSX, Carhartt, Guide Series and Kühl. Footwear brands will include Asics, Merrell, Rocky, Reebok, Keen, Irish Setter, Teva, New Balance, Brooks, Patagonia, Timberland, LaCrosse, Itasca, Saucony and Salomon.
