Top Alabama health care lawyer leaves BABC for Waller

Ex-chair of Alabama Bar health law section takes partnership in Birmingham office

Renowned health care lawyer Colin Luke has left Bradley Arant Boult Cummings to become a new partner at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis' Birmingham office.

"Our goal is to build world-class healthcare practices in our Birmingham and Austin offices that complement the skills and experience we’ve developed over 40 years in Nashville," said Waller chairman John Tishler. "Colin is a trusted advisor to providers throughout the country. He’s a perfect fit for us, and we’re excited to have him as a member of the Waller team."

Luke is the former chair of the Alabama Bar’s Health Law Section. He advises hospitals, health systems, physicians and outpatient providers on regulatory compliance matters involving the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark law, HIPAA and patient privacy issues and effective corporate compliance programs. Luke also counsels clients on operations issues, such as provider and payor certifications, facility licensure and certificates of need and in transactional matters including the acquisition and divestiture of facilities and the formation of joint ventures.

"I have always held Waller and its attorneys in high regard for the work they do in the healthcare industry," said Luke. "I am honored to have the opportunity to join a top-tier firm and play a key role in expanding its presence and practice within the Alabama healthcare community and beyond."
