The state's Launch Tennessee economic development program said it has partnered with California-based technology news platform PandoDaily to host the second Southland Southern Culture and Technology conference in Nashville next June.
In addition to the joint venture with PandoDaily, Launch Tennessee officials said they also will work more closely with AC Entertainment, the producers of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. AC this past year helped organize the entertainment components of the conference but will take on a bigger role as collaborative partner for the 2014 conference, which is scheduled for June 9-11.
"There's no better time for entrepreneurs in the South to band together as a region and step up and command some attention," said PandoDaily Founder and Editor-in-Chief Sarah Lacy, who delivered the keynote speech at this year's conference. "Southland will be a way to connect thinkers and doers in technology and culture in the South with those in our core markets of LA, New York and Silicon Valley. We're very excited to help Launch Tennessee take this conference to the next level and make it a must-attend event of the tech calendar."
This year's inaugural Southland gathering drew more than 650 entrepreneurs and investors to town.
