Energy Automation bought by investor

Maryland VC firm completes deal for energy-use consultant

A Maryland-based venture capital investment firm that specializes in funding — and eventually owning — “clean energy” companies has purchased a Hendersonville firm for an undisclosed sum.

Arborview Capital, based in Chevy Chase, has completed its acquisition of Energy Automation Systems Inc., a Hendersonville-based firm begun in 1982. Since then, the company run by CEO Paul Bleiweis, has developed into a significant player in the energy use and management field with the help of Arborview, an early investor. Bleiweis was appointed to the CEO spot in March 2012 and, according to a company statement, was part of this transaction although it’s not clear to what extent.

“Arborview completed the transaction in partnership with Bleiweis,” the same statement reads.

Bleiweis said the Arborview relationship will give his company the needed funds to expand.

“The Arborview partnership will allow EASI to accelerate our growth,” Bleiweis said. “Arborview provides capital, contacts and expertise to help us better serve our existing customer base with an even broader range of energy conservation measures, and to bring our solutions to new market segments.”
