Avondale Partners adds managing director
Avondale Partners today announced that Waymon Tipton serve as managing director of the Nashville-based firm’s wealth management group.
Tipton, who was formerly a vice president in the Nashville office of Stephens Inc., will oversee growth of the Avondale Partners’ wealth management business, both in terms of new advisor recruitment and assets under management. He will also serve as a member of the firm’s operating committee.
Tipton (pictured) brings more than 30 years experience in financial and corporate management. He began his career as a bond trader at First American (now Regions) and moved to wealth management in 1990 when he joined Robinson Humphrey (now SunTrust Robinson Humphrey).
Tipton holds an M.B.A. from the Owen Graduate School of Management of Vanderbilt University and a bachelor’s degree, also from VU.
Avondale Partners launched the wealth management division in 2009 and currently employs five wealth management advisors overseeing $760 million assets under management.
“We recognized real opportunity several years ago to become Nashville’s only investment banking firm to offer integrated wealth management services,” Phil Krebs, AP senior managing partner, said in a release. “We have been pleased with the successful integration of these services into our overall business model and with the performance of our team, and we are delighted to bring Waymon on board to help us continue and build this momentum.”
