Windsor Health founder joins Care Technology Systems board

Aging-in-place venture taps veteran exec for guidance

Care Technology Systems, the year-old senior health care venture led by former Change Healthcare COO Robert Hendrick, has added to its board veteran local health care executive Phil Hertik.

Hertik is the founder and former chairman of Windsor Health Group, the insurer sold in 2010 to Germany’s Munich Re for $125 million. Before that, he helped lead Coventry Corp. and Dental Health Management, among others. Hertik also has invested in a number of other ventures.

"We're growing as the pivotal player in the aging-in-place health delivery market and believe that Phil's knowledge and experience will be invaluable in guiding us along the way," said Jim Anderson, founder, chairman and president of Care Technology Systems. "He's been a leader in the healthcare arena his entire career, so he understands us and our challenges, and knows exactly what needs to be done to help us reach our goal."

Care Technology Systems was formed last year to develop technology that helps seniors maintain their independence by monitoring certain activities and sending alerts to caregivers when necessary.

"The application of technology to help seniors remain independent and in their homes as long as possible, promote care coordination among providers and help control the rate of healthcare cost inflation holds great promise," Hertik said. "I look forward to being a part of this innovative care delivery option."
