Butler Snow finds SoBro home

Law firm that picked up majority of Miller & Martin team taking 46,000 square feet

The law firm that this summer made a big splash by recruiting most of Miller & Martin's local attorneys has became the latest to sign on for multiple floors at the city's newest office tower.

Officials at Butler Snow O'Mara Stevens & Cannada have signed papers to lease the 15th and 16th floors at The Pinnacle at Symphony Place. The firm will take up 46,000 square feet in the tower and expects to be able to move into its new space in the first quarter of 2013. At the Pinnacle, it will join other law firms Bass Berry & Sims, Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin, Sherrard & Roe and Frost Brown Todd as well as Pinnacle Financial Partners and other tenants.

Butler Snow made its big local move in early June, snagging almost 40 lawyers from Miller & Martin, which had been bleeding talent for months following a contentious chairman vote last year. The firm, which has since grown to 43 locally, had been subleasing space from Miller & Martin in One Nashville Place.

“Our attorneys and staff look forward to our new location,” said Dan Elrod, a leading member of Butler Snow’s Nashville team who serves on the firm’s executive committee. “With our expansion plans, it was essential to find a signature location that could support our future growth and one that is highly accessible for our clients.”

Butler Snow's planned move will lift the occupancy rate at the 29-story Pinnacle, which opened for business in early 2010, to 80 percent. A year ago, that number stood at 65 percent; it has since been boosted by a number of other leases, most notably by Frost Brown Todd.
