Change Healthcare adds three execs

Officers coming from Onlife, edo and Walgreen's

Health care cost transparency venture Change Healthcare has hired two C-level executives and a marketing vice president, all of them with big-name experience on their resumes.

Coming on board at Change Healthcare, which early this year closed on a $9 million funding round, are CFO William Seibels, Chief Technology Officer Scott Shaffmaster and Clayton Nicholas, vice president of marketing and strategy.

Seibels (left in our photo) comes to Change Healthcare after serving as senior VP of finance at Onlife Health, the health and wellness services arms of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. Before that, he was senior VP at Guardian Home Care Holdings and an investment banker. He replaces Julia Polk, who had held the post for two and a half years before leaving in May.

Shaffmaster (middle) has more than 20 years of technology sector experience, most recently as vice president of IT service management at payment card venture edo Interactive. Before that, he spent nearly 20 years at health care payment intermediary Emdeon.

Nicholas was executive director of clinical strategy and operations for Walgreens before joining Change Healthcare. Prior to that, he founded and sold incentives company Giving Tree and held senior positions at Healthways and IBM.

“As Change Healthcare continues to expand, William, Scott and Clayton bring expertise in key areas that will allow us to remain at the forefront of innovation in healthcare,” said Howard McLure, Change Healthcare chairman and CEO. “Our growth over the last 12 months is proof of the significant interest in our offering as a driving force for greater healthcare transparency and consumer engagement. I am confident that the additions to our core management team will ensure that Change Healthcare remains well positioned to provide actionable savings for healthcare consumers.”
