Bass brings in ex-SEC attorney

Associate helped draft rules stemming from Dodd-Frank

Bass Berry & Sims has brought on board Jay Knight as an associate in its corporate and securities practice group.

Knight comes to the downtown office of Bass from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he was an attorney in the Division of Corporation Finance. There, he was special counsel in the Office of Structured Finance and led a team of attorneys, economists and accountants charged with implementing a rulemaking project under the Dodd-Frank Act. He also worked on Dodd-Frank in the Office of Rulemaking.

Knight, who earned his law degree from Northern Kentucky University, will work with Bass clients in matters related to securities, mergers and acquisitions, real estate capital markets and structured finance. Bass’ securities offerings group is home to more than 35 attorneys in Nashville.
