M. Restaurant & Bar — a creation of the owners of Mack and Kate's in Franklin and Macke's in Green Hills — will open Nov. 1 in Cummins Station.

Owners Jan and Bernie Strawn (who are married) are well known in the local restaurant industry.

M. Restaurant & Bar, to be located in the center of Cummins Station, will have a modern feel with a full open kitchen, the Strawns said. It will serve lunch, dinner, extended Sunday brunch and a late-night menu. The new space will seat 100 and have two private rooms. Catering will be a major part of the business model, the Strawns said.

The Strawns plan to cater to downtown residents and workers and to visitors to the Music City Center convention facility. A chef's tasting bar paired with cocktails and wine will be created nightly and be by reservation only.

In mid-October, M. Restaurant & Bar will offer a food and drink tasting to benefit Linda's Hope, a foundation supporting those affected by pancreatic cancer.
