Behavioral health agency adds CMO and medical director of youth services

Mental Health Cooperative announced today it has appointed Dr. Frank Drummond as chief medical officer and Dr. David Patzer as medical director of child and youth services.

Drummond (far left) earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and completed his psychiatric residency in New Orleans at LSU Medical Center. He studied anthropology at Emory University and holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Drummond has founded several companies, including Bazile Telecom, a French cell phone and service for elderly users, and mimijumi, which makes baby bottles that complement breastfeeding

Patzer joined MHC in 2009 as a child and adolescent psychiatrist after serving as a psychiatrist and co-occurring disorders collaboration project director for the Davidson County Mental Health Court and medical and clinical director for the Davidson County Drug Court residential program.

Patzer has served as a clinical fellow in addiction psychiatry at Vanderbilt University, a director of child psychiatry at EXCEL Group in Yuma, Ariz., and an assistant professor of child psychiatry at Yale University Child Study Center and University of Arizona in Tucson. Patzer also founded and led the Neuropsychiatric Disorders Evaluation and Research Clinic at the University of Arizona.

Patzer earned his medical degree from Northwestern Medical School and bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. He completed residencies in general surgery and general psychiatry at the University of Alabama as well as residency in general psychiatry and post-graduate fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Yale University.
