ICA announced today it has appointed Dr. Rodney M. Hamilton as its chief medical information officer.

Hamilton (pictured) will provide clinical leadership and support throughout the ICA organization, including product development, client services, sales and business development and marketing.

“Dr. Hamilton has the necessary combination of medical and technology experience that will help bring ICA to the next level,” Gary Zegiestowsky, ICA chief executive officer and board member, said in a release. “His expertise will be utilized throughout many departments of the company.”

Prior to joining ICA, Hamilton was the CMIO and managing director of the product strategy practice at PointClear Solutions, Inc., a technology consulting firm that develops health care solutions for startups, HIT vendors, provider organizations and payers. Hamilton also has held leadership positions in information technology at Vanguard Health Systems, McKesson Provider Technologies and Brentwood Pediatrics.

Hamilton received his doctorate from the University of Tennessee Memphis College of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During his residency program, he also worked extensively with Vanderbilt’s department of biomedical informatics on a number of clinical systems projects.
