Belcourt board promotes Silverman

Five-year managing director gets new title

The Belcourt Theatre’s board of directors have promoted managing director Stephanie Silverman to executive director and elected its new officers for the coming year.

Silverman, who has led the Belcourt for the past five years, the theater has raised its profile as a nonprofit showcasing independent and other niche films. Silverman is a frequent speaker and panel member at national conferences, including the Sundance Institute’s Art House Convergence, Film Forward and the League of Historic American Theatres.

“Stephanie’s leadership is exceptional,” says new board chairman Donna Drehmann. “We wanted to ensure that her title reflects the full scope of her responsibilities and roles.”

Drehmann joined the Belcourt’s board in 2011 and is president of customer experience consulting firm Listen, Learn, Live. Joining her in board leadership positions are Vice Chairman Van Pond Jr., architect and principal of Van Pond Architect, and Bo Spessard, COO of Emma, who will serve as treasurer. F. Clark Williams, an administrator in the Dean of Students office at Vanderbilt University, will continue to serve as secretary.
