Butler Snow expands in Nashville

Thirty-seven attorneys join firm

Butler Snow O’Mara Stevens & Cannada has added 37 attorneys, the majority from Miller & Martin and all from the local market, to the firm’s Nashville-area office. The expansion makes Butler Snow one of the largest law firms in Tennessee and among the largest in the country.

Mississippi-based Butler Snow now has almost 100 attorneys in Tennessee. The firm has more than 220 lawyers in 12 offices nationwide.

"We are very excited to join Butler Snow and believe this is a great opportunity for our team, for Butler Snow and most importantly, for our clients,” Dan H. Elrod, a leading member of the attorneys joining Butler Snow, said in a release. “The firm's culture, commitment to teamwork and focus on client service are all significant principles that we share."

Elrod, a former Miller & Martin attorney, was recently elected to Butler Snow's executive committee, which establishes firm governance, policy and strategic direction.

The firm’s new Nashville office is located downtown at 1200 One Nashville Place, 150 Fourth Ave. N. It had operated from Cool Springs.

Founded in 1954, Butler Snow offers business and litigation services across a variety of legal practices. The firm’s government relations practice includes former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour. Former Tennessee Congressman John Tanner is joining that group.
