FRP changes name to Southwestern Publishing Group
Nashville-based custom book publisher FRP, Inc., has changed its name to Southwestern Publishing Group, Inc., a move that is part of a larger rebranding effort to emphasize the company's expansion into untapped markets through two new imprints, company officials announced Tuesday.
FRP originated out of an imprint launched in 1961 known as Favorite Recipes Press, which will remain a key imprint under the Southwestern Publishing Group banner. FRP will continue to serve clients interested in developing community and branded cookbooks as well as distribute them into the trade.
Spurring the name change, the company said, is the fact that a key Southwestern Publishing focus is to develop content for parent company Southwestern Advantage, which was founded in 1855 and ranks among the oldest privately owned companies in Nashville.
Most recently, Southwestern Publishing purchased the Historic Hospitality imprint, the focus of which is creating custom books for America’s iconic hotels, inns, resorts and spas. In addition, the company's new Beckon Books imprint specializes in developing and distributing custom books for cultural attractions, national and international corporations, sports organizations and nonprofit groups.
