Regions Bank has lured from California a veteran trust banker to lead its Middle and East Tennessee operations.

In his new position as institutional trust market manager, Carl Esterhay will oversee a group covering a footprint that includes Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. During his 25-year career, Esterhay has held market manager and business development positions in institutional investments, endowments, foundations, retirement services and wealth management.

Most recently, Esterhay was institutional trust regional market manager for Wells Fargo in Los Angeles. Before that, he also worked at Wells Fargo in Denver, at U.S. Bank in Minneapolis and at a law practice in St. Paul, Minn. He earned his bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University, his law degree from Case Western Reserve University and his MBA from the University of Minnesota.
