Health care technology company M*Modal has hired Kathryn Twiddy as its new chief legal officer.

Twiddy comes to M*Modal from Durham, N.C., where she served as senior associate general counsel with pharmaceutical services company Quintiles Transnational. Additionally, she spent time with Misys Healthcare Systems, where M*Modal CEO Vern Davenport previously served as CEO.

Twiddy replaces Mark Sullivan, who has been with M*Modal and MedQuist, which M*Modal acquired last year, since 2003. Sullivan, 40, will remain with the company until July 1 to aid in the transition.

Sullivan's exit and Twiddy's arrival mark the latest high-level change at Franklin-based M*Modal. The company has so far this year also named new marketing and IT chiefs and recruited a former Norfolk Southern CFO to join its board.
