Area Boy Scouts council names COO
The Middle Tennessee Council of Boy Scouts of America has named Martez Moore to serve as chief operating officer.
In his new role, Moore is the second highest ranking scouting professional in the council. He will report to Scout Executive Hugh Travis, with his responsibilities to include membership growth, volunteer and staff services, and coordinating the efforts of district executives.
“Martez has demonstrated not only a heartfelt commitment to serving the youth of Middle Tennessee, but also the heart and insight of a true leader during his many years with the Council,” Travis said in a release. “I am excited to work with him on growing our organization and bringing new levels of excitement to the thousands of young men and women we serve.”
Moore replaces David Williams, who accepted the position of deputy scout executive for the Circle Ten Council in Dallas.
Moore earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth, later moving on to graduate from Tennessee State University. He started his career with the Middle Tennessee Council in 2002 as a neighborhood executive. He climbed the ranks to district executive as well as serving as a reserve U.S. marine before being called to active duty. Upon his return to the council, Moore served as senior district executive and field services director before his appointment to COO.
