HCA, doctors sued for alleged treatment delay in man's death
A Madison family has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against HCA, one of its subsidiary hospitals, an affiliated practice group and two doctors in Davidson County Circuit Court following the premature death of the family patriarch following a brief hospital stay just before Christmas 2010.
According to the April 13 complaint filed by Winifred Crook (the surviving spouse of Charles D. Crook) and the couple’s three adult children, HCA Health Services of Tennessee, Inc., dba Centennial Medical Center, Columbia Medical Group, The Frist Clinic and two doctors were all complicit in the untimely death of Crook 11 hours after he arrived emergently at Skyline Medical Center on Dec. 19, 2010.
The horrific details enumerated in the complaint, including Crook's quick transfer to Centennial, allege that his death — a proximate result of massive internal bleeding — would have been prevented had timely and proper medical care been given.
The Crooks are seeking “all damages allowed under Tennessee law,” according to the complaint.
HCA officials weren’t available for comment Wednesday.
The plaintiffs are represented by Randall L. Kinnard and Daniel Clayton of the Nashville law firm Kinnard Clayton & Beveridge.
