Gibson hires No. 2 to Juszkiewicz
Gibson Guitar has created a new senior executive position and recruited a consumer electronics industry veteran to lead its sales efforts across the globe.
The Nashville-based guitar maker said it has hired Bob Weissburg to be its first global executive vice president. Weissburg comes to the company from D&M Holdings, the parent of a number of consumer electronics brands including Marantz and Boston Acoustics. There, Weissburg was president of sales and marketing for the Americas. Before that, he spent a decade at Sony Electronics.
Weissburg will report directly to Gibson majority owner and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, who has of late made a big push to build his company's consumer electronics businesses. Since December, Gibson has snapped up several businesses making loudspeakers and monitors as well as DJ equipment and home theater systems.
“We’re delighted to have Bob join our company,” Juszkiewicz said. “His experience coupled with his passion makes him a perfect fit for Gibson.”
In an interview with trade pub TWICE, Weissburg said further product line expansion in the consumer electronics arena is an option.
