Alive Hospice taps new CEO

After search of more than year, hospitalist executive named to fill top spot

As of April 1, Alive Hospice will have a new CEO. After a search of more than a year, the company announced Monday morning that Anna-Gene O’Neal is joining Alive from Brentwood’s Cogent HMG.

Former CEO Janet Jones stepped down from the post in November of 2010. Since then, Barbara Cannon has served in the role on an interim basis while a search for Jones’ replacement was conducted.

O’Neal, a registered nurse, most recently served as senior vice president of quality with hospitalist outfit Cogent-HMG.

“I feel blessed to have the incredible opportunity to lead a truly mission-driven organization, evidenced by the heartfelt passion and amazing commitment of the board membership, the leadership, the staff and the volunteers at Alive Hospice,” O’Neal said. “Maintaining the exceptional quality of care delivered to the Alive Hospice community will continue to be of paramount focus while also increasing educational and professional outreach to the Middle Tennessee community on the benefits of both palliative and hospice care.”
