Mutual fund group hires compliance chief

Compass EMP exec coming from BBVA unit

Compass EMP Funds said Wednesday it has brought on board Pleshetta Loftin to be its chief compliance officer.

Lofton comes to Brentwood-based Compass EMP Funds from BBVA Wealth Solutions, a unit of Spain-based banking giant BBVA. There, she was chief compliance officer and operations officer. As CCO of Compass EMP, she oversees the planning, implementation, documentation and management of compliance and regulatory programs at the firm, which runs a number of mutual funds as well as other portfolios for institutions and financial advisors.

"Pleshetta brings an abundance of experience to our senior management team as we continue to position ourselves for further growth and expansion," said Rob Walker, president of Compass EMP Funds. "We are highly excited to add her energy, intellect and integrity to our organization."

Over her 20-year career, Lofton has worked in a number of financial industry jobs, primarily in Houston. She is an honors graduate from Houston Baptist University and has a master’s degree in business administration.

Compass EMP manages $440 million in its mutual funds and has total assets under management of almost $1 billion. Walker and his team last fall raised about $3 million in growth capital.
