Avondale names research point man

West End firm also hires retail analyst, sales director

Investment bank Avondale Partners has named one of its original employees to a newly created role overseeing its equity research products.

Bill Hirschman has been named director of equity capital markets product marketing. In that role, he will “be responsible for maximizing the overall scope and effectiveness” of Avondale’s research. Hirschman, at left, was most recently a managing director at the firm and its head of trading. He also holds a seat on the firm’s operating committee.

“Our proprietary research product is central to our firm’s business model and no one understands this better than Bill,” said Pat Shepherd, CEO of Avondale Partners. “This new position will ensure a centralized, consistent and timely approach to the development and delivery of the quality research product our clients have come to expect and deserve.”

Avondale also said it has added Adam Shifrin and Paula Torch (below) to its ranks. Shifrin joins as director of institutional sales covering West Coast accounts. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Compass Point Research and Trading in Washington, D.C. Torch has joined as a senior associate analyst covering mall-based specialty retailers. Previously, she was a vice president on the specialty retail coverage team at Barclays Capital in San Francisco.
