Hertik, Burch join PatientFocus board

Appointments driven by tripling of revenue, clients, employees

A local medical billing company has added a venerable entrepreneur and a well-known venture capital investor to its board of directors.

Philip Hertik (on left in photo), retired chairman and former CEO of Windsor Health Group, Inc., and local investor Lucius E. Burch, IV, have joined the PatientFocus board of directors according to a statement.

“We are honored that Phil Hertik and Lucius Burch, IV, are joining our board, and we appreciate their confidence in PatientFocus,” David E. Frederiksen, company co-founder and CEO, said in a release.

PatientFocus, formerly known as PatientCredit, is an account management billing system — launched in 2010 — and was the idea of Frederiksen and Evan Austill, the company's COO.

During 2012, PatientFocus tripled its number of clients, revenues earned and employees hired, so the experience provided by Burch and Hertik will be needed to manage that growth into what’s now a national footprint, Frederiksen added.

“Hertik and Burch join a board already full of well-known healthcare executives including: Jim Lackey, founder and former CEO of Passport Health Communications and current CEO of EnableComp; Luke Simons, former managing partner of J.C. Bradford & Co.; and Dr. Rand Frederiksen, a cardiologist with more than 40 years of experience as a healthcare provider and managing partner for his physician practice group.”
