Former Metro Council member to lobby for Cancer Society

Marketing veteran also has worked for national community health centers group

Lynn Williams, a member of the Metro Council from 1999 to 2007, has joined the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network as the government relations director for Tennessee.

Prior to taking on this position, Williams owned a marketing, communications and grassroots advocacy development company for 25 years and served as a regional field representative for the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Williams’ responsibilities at ACS CAN will include developing strategic plans around a variety of cancer-related legislative issues, building and maintaining relationships with state legislators and activating a statewide network of grassroots advocates.

“Lynn brings great skills and experience to ACS CAN that will be instrumental in passing laws and getting funding for programs that reduce the cancer burden in Tennessee,” said Debra Wilson, senior director of advocacy for the Mid-South Division of ACS CAN. “She will be an asset to the organization, our staff and volunteers.”
