Mississippi-based lobbying firm opens Nashville office

Capitol Resources taps former state Republican Party ED to oversee local operations

Capitol Resources, a government relations and lobbying firm with a strong foothold in the South, is opening shop in Nashville and has hired former Tennessee Republican Party Executive Director Adam Nickas to oversee it.

Established in 2001 and based in Jackson, Miss., Capitol Resources also has offices in Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and Washington, D.C. The firm’s partners are Clare Hester, John Lundy, Henry Barbour and former Congressman Chip Pickering.

Barbour is the nephew of former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and a major player in national GOP political circles.

"Adam is an excellent fit for Capitol Resources," said Henry Barbour. "His leadership is proven and his drive is unquestioned. The GOP gains in the Tennessee statehouse were noticed around the country, and he will be a tremendous asset to our clients."

Nickas (pictured) said Capitol Resources has an “established reputation for excellent service to its clients” throughout the South.

"I look forward to helping our clients achieve their objectives and working closely with the leaders and members of the Tennessee General Assembly and the Tennessee Executive Branch," Nickas said.

A Germantown, Tenn., native and University of Memphis graduate, Nickas has worked on the campaigns of Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker and the aforementioned Haley Barbour, while also contributing to a presidential campaign and Tennessee gubernatorial, congressional and legislative campaigns.

Nickas was named political director at the state Republican Party in May 2010 and executive director in 2011.
