Metropolitan Bank, which moved into the Nashville market about a year ago, has picked a prime West End Avenue spot for its regional home office.
Four-year-old Metropolitan will, pending regulators’ approval, begin to renovate the building at 1701 West End Ave. that has been the home of marketing agency Bill Hudson & Associates. The project is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2013.
“It is important for us to have a strong presence in the city with a highly visible site,” said Bill Menkel, Metropolitan’s Nashville president. “Our physical expansion is driven first by the acquisition of talent, but when we do expand, we want to do so in a way that provides greater convenience and access for our clients, and our new location certainly accomplishes this objective.”
Menkel, a former Peoples State Bank of Commerce and National Bank of Commerce leader, set up a Metropolitan office on Westgate Circle in Brentwood early this year. At the time, executives said they wanted the $690 million bank to become prominent in the heart of Nashville.
The 1701 West End building’s redesign and renovation is being handled by Graham Reese Design Group and Harvest Construction Co. Ben Claybaker from NAI Nashville represented the bank during the leasing process.
