New GM for Governors Club
The owner of the Governors Club has named a three-decade country club industry veteran to be its general manager.
KemperSports officials said Jim Fitzsimmons most recently spent 10 years as the GM of Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif., which had been managed by the company. While in Valencia, Fitzsimmons — not to be confused with the local software entrepreneur of the same name — oversaw a $2.5 million clubhouse and amenity reconstruction, increased membership sales and developed various social events.
"Jim is an experienced club manager with a passion for member service and keen attention to detail," said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports, which also manages The Club at Fairvue Plantation. "We have big plans for the Governors Club and we will look to Jim to lead the capital improvement process while improving member and guest service."
The Governors Club is home to more than 430 residences spread across more than 200 acres.
