Nashville-based nonprofit Urban Housing Solutions has begun full-scale on-site work on North Fourth, a two-building infill project located at the northwest intersection of Cleveland Street and Lischey Avenue in East Nashville.
The approximately $1.4 million project, which is slated for completion by next March, will feature seven workforce housing apartments and a roughly 1,000-square-foot commercial space, for which UHS officials are targeting a coffee shop/café. Lischey and Cleveland are key streets within the east side's Cleveland Park district.
Baron+Dowdle Construction is handling the general contracting work, while Dean Design Group is the civil engineer and DA|AD is the architect. Financing is being provided by a combination of federal and Nashville Housing Fund monies.
“It was a site challenge in that it had no utility connections,” said Brent Elrod, Urban Housing Solutions project manager.
UHS is also the developer of Third & Chestnut, comprising 10 apartments and three small commercial spaces. That project is slated for completion by Thanksgiving.
