Chartwell Hospitality Group this week paid $4.7 million for the last piece of its SoBro puzzle.
Operating as SoBro Hotel Partners, the company purchased 0.46 acres at 405 Third Ave. S. from Ching and Min Huang Wang.
The tract completes the assemblage Chartwell needs for its $38 million, 200-room Hilton Garden Inn project.
The other major tract in the hotel's footprint was once the site proposed for a condo tower by Sonny Belew and Mark Lineberry. Chartwell paid $3 million for that property, buying from Clayton Bank after Belew and Lineberry defaulted on their loan for the tower that would have been located at Third, Peabody and Almond Street.
The Wangs, who were represented by C.B. Ragland in the sale, turned a major profit for their property, which fronts Korean Veterans Boulevard, having paid $375,000 for it in 1987.
