Lipscomb names engineering dean

Former Georgia Tech academician once served as project engineer for helicopter manufacturing company

Engineering education veteran Dr. Justin Myrick has been appointed dean of Lipscomb University’s Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering, LU officials announced today.

Myrick, who officially began Oct. 1, replaces interim dean Greg Nordstrom.

Myrick (pictured) spent the majority of his career at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, at which he also served as the director of the Health Systems Research Center. In addition, Myrick directed Georgia Tech’s Master of Science in Health Systems program.

“Dr. Myrick has an enthusiastic heart for Lipscomb and is absolutely committed to advancing the mission and goals of the Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering,” LU Provost Craig Bledsoe said in a release. “He is extremely energetic and will continue the positive trajectory for our engineering program.”

Prior to his tenure at Georgia Tech, Myrick was on faculty at the University of Central Florida and was an assistant project engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft, where he focused on the CH-53A Marine Assault Transport helicopter. Sikorsy parent United Technologies Corp. is one of the world's largest companies. Most recently, Myrick was an adjunct professor at Tennessee Technological University.

Myrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science degree from New York University and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri.
