A partnership including a Murfreesboro doctor has purchased a portion of the ailing Hickory Hollow Mall.
Global Mall Partnership — which includes Rutherford County's Reita Agarwal — bought the non-anchor-store portion of the shopping center for $1 million from Chattanooga's CBL & Associates, which also owns RiverGate Mall and CoolSprings Galleria.
The deal totals 27.5 acres and more than 617,000 square feet. It includes the Electronic Express location as well as the small, interior retail storefronts.
Global Mall's deal marks the latest chapter in the story of the failing retail center. The state paid $3 million for the former Dillard's location in March as part of a new campus for Nashville State. Metro put in a $3.25 million offer for the former JCPenney space nearly a year ago.
