Post-merger UMG Nashville names more senior execs

Capitol Records COO, others taking on similar roles at combined group

Former Capitol Records Senior Vice President and COO Tom Becci has been named to the same position at Universal Music Group Nashville, which recently acquired the recorded music division of global conglomerate EMI.

Becci, pictured, has been with Capitol for almost two decades. Before that, he was an auditor at Ernst & Young and KPMG. Mike Dungan, chairman and CEO of UMG Nashville, on Monday also announced a number of other senior executive appointments for his team, which now oversees Mercury Nashville, Capitol Records Nashville, MCA Records and EMI Records Nashville.

UMG Nashville Senior VP of A&R Brian Wright will continue as SVP/Head of A&R for those labels and former Capitol SVP of Marketing Cindy Mabe has been named to that same role for the combined organization. In addition, UMG Nashville SVP and Head of Promotion Royce Risser will oversee promotion at the combined UMG.

“Our new company embodies the very best of both Universal and EMI,” said Dungan, who early this year moved from Capitol to UMG. “The integration of these two great companies presents a rare opportunity to create a Nashville-based music entertainment organization that is well positioned for creative innovation and profitable growth. Tom, Brian, Cindy, and Royce represent the very best in creative leadership and business management. Throughout each of their careers, they have displayed a real track record of success and innovation, and will play a key role in ensuring the smoothest possible transition for everyone involved.”
