HealthTech acquires former Vanderbilt entity

Acuitec flagship product includes scheduling, nurse documentation, case management

HealthTech Holdings Inc. today announced the acquisition of Acuitec LLC.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Nashville-based HealthTech Holdings is a health information technology company, while Acuitec is an integrated perioperative solutions provider.

Based in Birmingham, Ala., Acuitec originally was formed as a partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Its flagship product, Vigilant Perioperative Information Management Solution, includes scheduling, preference cards, nurse documentation, case management, reports, anesthesia charting and mobile capabilities.

“Adding Acuitec as a HealthTech business line brings even more value to providers, especially given the central role surgery plays in hospitals’ profitability and patient satisfaction,” Bill Anderson, chairman, president and CEO of HealthTech, said in a release. “We were attracted to Acuitec for several reasons, including its relationship with Vanderbilt, the solution’s strength as a best-of-breed offering, and its ability to scale from the needs of smaller community hospitals to very large providers and health systems.”

Acuitec will operate as an independent business line within HealthTech. The latter will retain all Acuitec employees and the Birmingham headquarters, with Lionel Tehini continuing to serve as Acuitec president.
