MedQuist hires new COO, appoints EVP

Replacement for former Spheris exec comes from Microsoft Health Solutions

Clinical documentation provider MedQuist announced today that it has brought in Amy Dellamora Amick to serve as its new COO.

Amick replaces Tony James, the former Spheris executive who stayed on with MedQuist after the latter bought Spheris out of bankruptcy but last fall left the company. She comes to MedQuist from Microsoft's Global Health Solutions Group, where she oversaw global implementation, customer support, customer relationships and training and education. Additionally, she spent time with Allscripts Misys, which is also the former home of MedQuist CEO Vern Davenport.

In her new role, Amick will be responsible for global service delivery, implementation and support, including MedQuist's consulting and professional services businesses.

“Our belief in Collaborative Intelligence requires our COO to understand not only how we as an organization can operate most effectively, but also how we can gain better synergies with our partners across the continuum of care,” said Davenport. “The healthcare industry is rapidly changing, and our leadership must understand the needs of healthcare across every dimension. Amy understands the drivers required for technology-enabled clinical documentation service leadership and the thought leadership for where the industry is heading tomorrow.”

The company also announced today that Michael Clark has been appointed to the position of executive vice president of global sales. He was previously responsible for MedQuist's U.S. operational and sales operations.

Shares of MedQuist (Ticker: MEDH) are up slightly in Monday morning trading. They've climbed 30 percent in the past three months.
