Berry Hill hit with federal tax lien

IRS seeks three missing returns

The satellite city of Berry Hill has been hit with a federal tax lien.

According to a filing with the Davidson County Register of Deeds, the Internal Revenue Service has levied a $12,611.72 lien against the independent enclave south of downtown.

The lien notice cites a violation of federal tax code 6721 — "failure to file an information return" — for the period ending Dec. 31, 2007 and two instances of unpaid or missing 941 taxes — a quarterly return for employers — from the first and second quarters of 2010. Almost all of the total lien, $12,108, is related to the first-quarter 941 assessment.

Berry Hill City Manager Joe Baker said the payments to clear the lien have been made and the oversight was noticed through a regular review by city officials.
