Ingram sells business unit to Pine Bluff

Materials segment will now be controlled by Arkansas company

Ingram Industries has entered into a deal to sell a piece of its business. Through the terms of the agreement, Ingram Materials, which operates sand dredges in Paducah, Ky., will be sold to Arkansas’ Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co.

Ingram currently operates sand dredges and has distribution facilities in Nashville, Clarksville and New Johnsonville, Tenn.; Paducah, Ky.; and Decatur and Florence, Ala.

The business, which was established in 1927 as the Ohio River Sand Co., was purchased by the Ingram family in 1962 and renamed Ingram Materials. It was relocated in 1997 to make way for LP Field and now operates on Visco Drive in Nashville. Ingram is a major producer of aggregate used by the construction industry for concrete, asphalt and masonry projects throughout the Southeast.

Of the deal, Ingram Industries CEO Orrin Ingram said that it was “an opportunity to align with an industry leader more focused on the production and sale of sand and aggregate.”

Financial terms of the deal were not announced, though Ingram did make a point of saying, “the sale announced today will not affect operations or employment at other Ingram companies, including Ingram Content Group and Ingram Barge Company.”
