Baby products manufacturer lands financing, hires COO

Baby bottle specialists hope capital will aid expansion domestically, internationally

No matter how much time we spend rooting out new companies in the Nashville area, it seems we always find a new one in a business we had never considered. Such is the case with mimjumi Breast Bottle Company, which today announced a round of financing and a new C-suite hire.

The 18-month-old company, which manufactures the “Very Hungry baby bottle,” has secured $550,000 in financing, primarily through the Small Business Administration. The company plans to use the capital to fund further expansion, which it describes as “growing the product line to include soft goods and other products related to the bottles." A 4 oz. version of its bottle— the "Not So Hungry" — comes out in July.

In addition to the financing news, the company also announced that it has hired recent Owen graduate Parker Braun to serve as the company’s new COO. Braun worked for the company as a consultant while still at Owen.

Mimijumi’s products are carried in more than 100 stores in North America, but the company, which recently relocated its manufacturing operations to Austria, is hoping to go international soon.
