Baptist to put $5M to work

Largest donation in hospital's history will fund new wound care center

The Baptist Hospital Foundation is putting to use the single largest donation it has ever received. The $5 million gift will fund the build-out of the new Craig Center for Advanced Wound Healing at Baptist Hospital.

The donation comes from the Deborah and C.A. Craig II Family Foundation. According to the announcement: “The Craig Center for Advanced Wound Healing will be located at the corner of Murphy Avenue and 20th Avenue on the Baptist Hospital campus across from the North Tower Medical Office Building and The Hospital for Spinal Surgery. Groundbreaking is anticipated in February 2012.”

The new 20,000-square-foot center will replace about 6,000 square feet of space in the Select Specialty Hospital building on Hayes Street near Baptist's main building. The Diabetes Center at Baptist Hospital will also relocate to the new building. A tentative opening date is set for November of next year.
