CEO Bill Carpenter relinquishes one of his titles

LifePoint Hospitals has promoted Executive Vice President and COO David Dill to the position of president, a title formerly held by company Chairman and CEO Bill Carpenter.

Dill, 42, joined the Brentwood-based hospital company in 2007 as its chief financial officer after serving as CEO in the Eastern Division of Fresenius Medical Care. He was promoted to EVP and COO in 2009 and will continue serving as LifePoint's COO following the promotion.

"David has a unique handle on all aspects of our business," Carpenter said. "He has been instrumental in developing and implementing our strategic plan, including improving the quality of care across our hospitals, recruiting the right physicians to communities where they are needed, expanding our service lines and improving hospital Emergency Departments."

LifePoint currently operates 52 hospitals in 17 states. Shares of the company (Ticker: LPNT) are up about 1 percent this morning and have risen 3 percent in the past three months.
