Five separate companies have submitted petitions to Nashville's U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the first two and a half days of this week:

• Carroll Properties at Cheap Hill LLC. Chapter 11, Aug. 10. Assets and liabilities each between $1 million and $10 million. Further details to be provided in schedules not yet filed. Debtor's attorney: Sam Crocker.

Entrepreneur Charles R. Carroll owns this company, which itself owns the former home of the late John Lindahl, co-founder of water-heater maker State Industries, on Highway 12 in Cheatham County. Carroll built and sold Nashville-based Integrated Biometric Technology Inc. some years ago. He is now CEO of ASET Corp., based in Dayton, Ohio, where he was once a police officer.

The major creditor in this case is FirstBank in Nashville. The filing says it has extended $2 million in unsecured credit to Carroll Properties.

• The Granite Expo Inc., Nashville. Chapter 11, Aug. 9. Assets: $1.03 million. Liabilities: $872,000. Debtor's attorney: Lynda Jones, The Jones Law Group PLLC.

This firm says it discovered that some $100,000 worth of granite has gone missing from its inventory. "No insurance coverage," its filing states.

"Debtor believes loss resulted from employee theft and has contacted the District Attorney's Office."

• Albright Trailer Manufacturing LLC, Lebanon. Chapter 11, Aug. 10. Assets and liabilities each in the $1 million-$10 million range. Further details to be provided in schedules not yet filed. Debtor's attorney: Roy DeSha, DeSha Watson PLLC.

• Showcase Custom Cases Inc., Nashville. Chapter 7, Aug. 11. Assets: $39,000. Liabilities: $411,000. Major creditors: Owners Kenneth and Sharon Burbage, of Franklin. Debtor's attorney: Joe Rusnak, Tune, Entrekin & White.

• Dan Agency Inc., Franklin. Chapter 7, Aug. 11. Assets: None. Liabilities: $104,000. Only creditors: Two advertising divisions of AT&T. Debtor's attorney: Joe Rusnak, Tune, Entrekin & White.
