Bridgestone signs on for arena naming rights

Sports Authority must approve Predators' deal with tire maker

The Nashville Predators have reached agreement with Bridgestone Americas about the tire maker buying the naming rights to the team's downtown home.

Pending approval from the Metropolitan Sports Authority, the building now known as the Sommet Center will be renamed Bridgestone Arena. (Read the team's letter to the Sports Authority here.) Details about the length and value of the deal are not yet known.

The news will be officially announced Tuesday morning by representatives of the team and the manufacturer, which has its Americas headquarters near Nashville International Airport and already has a broad sports sponsorship program. Among other things, the company is the official tire of the National Hockey League.
