A different kind of smelly

St. Paul’s Christian Academy in Green Hills is investing $623,000 to convert its current gym to a cafeteria. Carden Co. has the job, which is the latest in a series of construction projects at the growing K-6 school.

Metro Schools roof job

Most of Bordeaux Elementary School’s roof will be replaced by Porter Roofing Contractors Inc. The firm’s contract is worth $250,000.

Massman overhaul

Hawkins Development Co. is renovating about 3,100 square feet for MetCom at 732 Massman Drive. The work is valued at $180,000.

Engineers on the move

The HVAC and electrical engineers of Power Management Corp. are on the move on Music Row. Currently based at 1025 16th Ave. S., PMC has contracted with Flow Construction Co. to renovate a third-floor suite of 60 Music Square E. The firm's new home is just 0.3 miles from its current base, which Vanderbilt acquired last year to house two engineering and software institutes.

Space for spinach?

Vanderbilt chemistry professor David Cliffel is preparing a move into some fifth-floor space at the university’s Stevenson Center. Orion Building Corp. is finishing out his laboratory in a job worth $150,000. Part of Cliffel’s research work focuses on how spinach cells could produce solar energy.

Model medical projects

Two projects taking place across the street from each other: HCA has contracted for the building of interior mock-ups of patient and operating rooms at its flagship Centennial Medical Center. Brasfield & Gorrie is on the job, which is valued at $100,000. Meanwhile, the nearby medical office building at 2222 State St. is getting its façade overhauled by Panther Construction Co. Inc. That project is worth almost $113,000.

New look for White Bridge lot

Post Square Shopping Center, the entity that owns the White Bridge Pike shopping center of the same name, has contracted with W.R. Newman & Associates Inc. to renovate its parking lot. The job is valued at about $88,000. Post Square is registered to investor Martin Silverman, who also owns the Merchant’s Walk center in Brentwood.

The Pru’s downtown digs

Prudential Financial is spending about $86,000 to rehab a small suite on the 12th floor of the SunTrust Plaza on Commerce Street. The blue-chip company already has a local office on Old Hickory Boulevard. Tenant Building Group is handling its downtown job.
