GAC names local exec GM
Broadcaster Great American Country has promoted Sarah Trahern to general manager and senior vice president.
Trahern, who was previously senior VP of programming, will report to GAC president Ed Hardy and help oversee the network's strategic planning as well as become more involved in its day-to-day management. She has been with GAC since 2005 helped develop several special programs such as The Opry at Carnegie Hall, Country at the White House and the Music City: Keep on Playin’ telethon for Nashville flood relief.
“Sarah has demonstrated strong leadership, solid business acumen and incredible resourcefulness while contributing significantly to the growth of the GAC,” Hardy said. “To those in the music and cable TV industries, her name has become almost synonymous with the GAC brand.”
Trahern has more than 20 years of experience in cable TV. Prior to joining GAC – which is owned by Scripps Networks – she covered politics for C-SPAN in Washington, D.C. and worked at the former TNN in Nashville. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Alongside Trahern’s promotion, GAC has promoted Suzanne Gordon to VP of programming from director of programming, a post she had held since 2006. Before joining GAC, Gordon was senior director of programming at Shop at Home Network.
