Memphis cloud computing firm plans Nashville presence

NexTek expects 100% growth in 2010

Memphis-based NexTek will open a Nashville office in March, hoping to capitalize on growing demand for cloud computing services.

Wayne Randall, owner and president of NexTek, said his business has "taken off" in 2009 as companies become more familiar with the concept of cloud computing and understand the potential cost savings of having their iT infrastructure — servers, software, etc. — hosted off site and accessed through a web browser.

"We went from 40 to 50 clients to about 90, and we added almost 30 of those in the fourth quarter of 2009," Randall said. He expects the business, which was launched in 2005, to double in size again in 2010.

NexTek will start with a two-person presence in Nashville, in the Bellevue neighborhood, Randall said. It's the company's first satellite office. The business serves clients small to medium-sized companies in seven states and Washington, D.C.
