Longtime Democratic power player moving to Texas

Former member of Bredesen's inner circle headed to Dallas

Bob Corney, a longtime major player in Tennessee Democratic politics, is packing his bags and headed to Texas.

A senior vice president with VOX Global Public Affiars, representing AT&T, Corney is relocating to Dallas. He has accepted a newly created public affairs position in AT&T's international headquarters but will also keep his title within VOX Global.

Well known in Democratic power circles, Corney has more than 20 years of public affairs, political and public relations experience and most recently served as senior advisor and communications director for Gov. Phil Bredesen.

Corney’s career began with the Tennessee Democratic Party in the late 1980s, before he joined the staff of Senator Al Gore, eventually serving as deputy director of advance in the Vice President’s office.

He has had extensive campaign experience at the local, state and national level and is best known for his management of statewide Democratic coordinated campaigns. Corney also managed his own PR firm in Tennessee, working with clients ranging from publicly traded corporations to small nonprofits.
