Funeral school adds to footprint
Gupton College buys two adjacent plots
Two addresses west of downtown Nashville have been purchased by an area funeral studies college.
The John A. Gupton College bought 1620 Church St. and 1621 State St. from The 4-J L.P. For $1.25 million. The Church Street address houses a Biomat USA Plasma Center, the latter is a parking lot that touches the back of Gupton's building.
B. Steven Spann, the college's president, said the institution has no immediate plans for expansion.
Henry Menge of XMi Commercial Real Estate represented the seller, an investment partnership that owns a number of properties in the Church Street corridor as well as east and southeast of downtown. It had owned the lots now owned by Gupton since 1995, when it paid a combined $375,000 for the sites.
