Old Beethoven's Grille site finds new tenant

Texas chain with O'Charley's ties plans to use site for first Tennessee location

The former Mallory Lane site of Beethoven's Grille has found a new tenant. Austin, Texas-based Chuy's will move into the site, the chain's first location in Tennessee.

The $43 million Tex-Mex restaurant chain currently has 13 locations in Texas. The chain is headed by former O'Charley CEO Steve Hislop. This April, Hislop told industry publication Chain Leader he hoped to “connect the dots going down I-65,” spreading the concept into Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky. In the same interview, Hislop said the chain planned to open five or six new locations in 2009, with three locations planned as rehab projects.

The firm has signed a long-term lease for the Franklin site and plans to open in October, according to Lynn Keesecker, a broker with Crye-Leike Commercial who handled the leasing.

“A lot of the Texas transplants who live in Nashville and who know what Chuy's is are really excited about this,” Seesecker told NashvillePost.com in a message. “There's a lot of word of mouth about it.”
