BMI consolidation to bring jobs to Nashville

Gotham's loss is Music City's gain as performing-rights org shifts some functions out of Manhattan

A New York Times blog is reporting that Broadcast Music Inc. will shift about 32 jobs from New York City to Nashville by next spring.

The company, one of the three main performing-rights organizations that collect and distribute songwriter royalties, is said to be consolidating its New York workforce as it prepares to move into new office space at 7 World Trade Center. The move to Nashville will reportedly complete a transition of BMI's administrative jobs from New York that has been ongoing for some time.

It is not immediately clear how many current employees may move to Nashville, nor how many new hires may ensue here. Attempts to reach a BMI spokesman have so far proved unsuccessful today.
